A few hours at Alit Sadel, and now i can do away with the slab of foam on my seat. Its 90% what i wanted, ideally wanted a distressed brown seat, but none of his fabrics hit the spot, went for a vintage cream instead. Its well made, and price was good but came out a little thicker than i hoped. Oh well, when it gets super dirty, ill hunt around for a tan fabric.

A nice arvo ride to shake anything loose was on the cards today. Bike is very close to finished. Can't find any mirrors i like yet, seat upholstery to be done and need to custom up an LED stoplight. Once those things are done, all i need is to run the engine in some more, dump the oil and readjust the valves. Its riding well, very good fun. Some post ride pics, a bit dirty now but its got to happen some time.
Well, been a bit "per-occupied" lately to finish off the bike. Today, found some time to do some finishing touches. Its these little things that take a heap of time, but i think they will make a difference in the end. Cutting bolts to size, clean fitment of things and making sure all is matched up. Got some new handgrips on today, new front headlight to replace the mystery crack in the old one. Fitted footpegs and front indicators. Checked new steering lock alignment. Fitted front guard and number plates. Nearly ready to roll. I also wrapped the exhaust with Thermo-Tec wrapping. Cost me more than all the engine work combined, but its better than dealing with the cheap asbestos lagging
Ok, made a heap of progress, but it actually looks like i went backwards. Pulled the swingarm and suspension off again and realigned. Drilled a few holes and added a brown leather chain guard made from an old belt. That gives you a hint for the finishing touches on the seat. Also changed the position of the kick starter so that i can sit properly. A bit of angle grinder persuasion worked well. A tip for young punters, if you are planning on building an old-school Honda, a good angle grinder is highly recommended. :) As for the finished pics... Ill keep you waiting a bit longer.....
Well, no longer can i use the lights. Time to retreat indoors and have a glass of wine. Bike is looking nice, a few finishing touches and it should be ready to roll.
Got all the wiring done. Slow process, but think i have it all hidden and waterproofed now. Tank fitted, and rear guard on. Footsteps aligned and all seems to be going well. Even got Az to do some polishing for me, he must be bored....
A coffee and bacon/eggs. Engine in, shocks on and wiring hidden through frame. Its good having lots of slow quiet time to get it done. More to come later in the day.
Ok, paint is back from the bengkel las. The guys around there have done a good job. Looks like i have all i need now for an assembly. Got started with a tree alignment and slid the front shocks on. More to come as bits and pieces come together. I know what ill be doing over the Nyepi holiday. A silent assembly!
Still waiting for my parts to get fixed from the painters. Decided to give the whipper snipper a service. Noticed that the muffler was strangely human, with a skin disease.
Checked on the paint today. It was all "complete". I wasn't happy with a few things, some little bugs stuck under the clear coat like prehistoric fossils and some finger smudges. They will fix and then ill collect in a few more days. Best to be patient and get it right first time. On the plus side, colours look really good and quality seems good. There is some bleeding on the pin stripes, but not too bad.

So, the modif-off battle is on. I have a bit of a head start with this one, as i got the bike before Arran. Actually, he saw how cool it was and then decided to find one himself. 1979, pretty bad shape, but running and riding. Ill keep the updates coming. Archives
