Ok, its about time. I know at least i have dissapointed MJ with a lack of posts. Time to blog some more progress. With the new bushes in the swingarm, the alignment was a bit better, but something is still twisted. I did some negosiasi with good looking metal shop, and they think they can jig it up to straighten the arm/mounts properly. i could just get a new swingarm, but it wouldn't help the 'budget-off'. Also worked on a tank design, by modifying my existing tank, a front fender design, and some top secret rear sections. So, engine out, wiring off, frame knocked down to rolling gear and the bike is off to a new home for a few days. While the ike is away, ill fiddle with some engine work. When its back and all straight, ill work on test mounting the new tank, guards etc.
A cracked and badly welded frame, and oil in the magneto case on Az's bike have called for a lending hand. That means my progress is slower, but its been fun still. Managed to get Az's GLpro completely stripped down to bare frame. Got my swingarm on, will try to align tonight.
Not feeling like doing anything too heavy, so started to fiddle around with some wiring. Found a chrome switch in the shed i had from a while ago, chrome was corroded and looked suss, so puled it apart and gave it a coat of black. Waterproofed it for Bali wet season while i was at it.
So, my bike looks like this again... There has been a niggling alignment issue with the rear wheel. It's vertical alignment was slightly out, meaning it had a tilt as it ran down the length of the bike, despite being properly centered. It was probably passable, but the more i looked at it, the more i was unhappy with it. I figure its wither a twist in the swingarm after heating and welding, or the bushes are defective and distorted. Pulled down the rear again, will put new bushes in first, then try and get it spot on. I suppose the time consuming small details are what make a nice bike. Also found a CB brake pedal and axle. the old one was badly worn, and had an annoying wobble. I could have fiddled around welding it to repair, but for 4 dollars, i think its money well spent.
Oh dear. Now Stebe has entered the modif-off with a similar bike to Az. GL Pro 97. Steve's is 160cc, Az's 145cc. Looks like i am lagging in that department a little. As soon as i get my rolling gear sorted, ill be looking into an engine pull down and see what i can bore it up to. I'd like to be ahead in the engine power department.
Ahh. Report time again. Productivity will grind to a halt this week, my rival is getting the jump on me now...

So, the modif-off battle is on. I have a bit of a head start with this one, as i got the bike before Arran. Actually, he saw how cool it was and then decided to find one himself. 1979, pretty bad shape, but running and riding. Ill keep the updates coming. Archives
