The CG kinda doubled as a camp fire on Friday evening, kinda funny how we all ended up sitting around it. This time though we had the opportunity to have a few with the new generation of Modif-Off crew. Pretty funny clip, kinda long, but the GP held up and produced some quality vision. Bike is back in pieces again. I hope for the last time. A frame clean up, removal of some more brackets and prep for paint. Tomorrow will be my paint negotiation day. Hmmm, ill brush up the negotiation tactics tonight. Maybe a few key words in bahasa Bali will help. Designed a few brackets and pretty got everything ready to go. Once paint is done, a few finishing touches and a seat cover will make the job done. Then ill win the-modif off and live happily ever after.... :)
Hmmm. Would i recommend Ali Baba DK number plate creators in Banjar Semer? They got 11/12 characters right on the number plate. Pity they put the 9 upside down and made a 6. Pretty good otherwise.....Highly recommended.
Well, the modif off household is looking good. both bikes are now on the road. Az's is looking much nicer with a classy paint job. Both are now riding well after a little tune and exhaust work today. Az opted for the super loud, but very stylish stubby exhaust, i opted for a longer slice exhaust with a more "responsible neighbor" friendly sound. The guys who made them had a great system, making the custom exhaust to suit, then allowing me to tune the baffle to the sound i wanted. I'm impressed! Did a few odds/ends and trimmed down the footsteps to suit some aluminum pegs. Soon, ill get around to some paint.
A long awaited ride this afternoon was certainly right on the money. After waiting an exceptionally long time for the wiring to be finished (thanks public holidays) the bike is back on the road. Sporting Az's carb of his GL Pro, small sealed battery under the seat and a new CDI, its riding like a dream. Engine is very strong, lots of torque. Sounds great, even with the temporary lend-an-exhaust. Rides smoothly, handling is good and feels very organic. I am not so sure about the lack of a seat, and the 2 large bolts poking through. Gearing needs to change slightly, but the power will be fine with slightly higher ratios. Good cruising fun. Make an exhaust Saturday, test a few more things then pull down again to paint. Yay. The end is near.
Hit a bit of a standstill at the moment. Az is getting his engine overhauled. I am going to pinch his old carb, and use it for my machine. Have to wait till i can grab that from his mechanic before i can do anymore. As soon as i have that, ill update to the max....
So, Galungan holiday and everything closes up. Including the bengkel where my bike resides. So what does one do while they wait for parts to arrive and shops to open. Hmmm. The iBale 1.0... Put on your best insulating thongs, bust out the dodgy indo wiring and plug it in.. The new ultimate ipod accessory, even your dog will love it. I better get my bike back soon!
Ok, now the net is back at our place, i can update a little. Bike is running, thanks Az for uploading the video. The gopro has a strange way of recording sound. If we were making rat bikes, i could pretty much leave it as is and win the comp, but i don't think my fuel tank design will cut it for the modif off concept. A few more things to test, new clutch and gear selectors need checking especially. While the other two are off having seats made, it seem i am going slow, but at least i know them mechanicals of the bike will be spot on.
A Pulpy Mango, some messed up wires, some dogs and of course a few Bintang besar got her started ... I actually don't even know her name ... I know Tom definitely put in some pumped up kicks to turn her over, check the link :) az xo There is a spanner in the works... Hit a small hurdle with the carb, seems to have developed a mystery problem since being disconnected and the slider is sticking at wide open throttle. That's a pretty dangerous problem! When i find some time, ill get on to it and try and run the bike. That is looking like Saturday at this stage...

So, the modif-off battle is on. I have a bit of a head start with this one, as i got the bike before Arran. Actually, he saw how cool it was and then decided to find one himself. 1979, pretty bad shape, but running and riding. Ill keep the updates coming. Archives
