Its premature i know, but to keep the modif-off alive i have been thinking of my next project. Ill give it some more thought when the Honda is done, but its good to think over while i am to busy to work on the CG. I have had this Sachs/Megelli 250 for quite a while, but its not my favorite bike to ride. There are lots of good things about it, buts its going under the modif-off hammer. I am thinking a Ducati style cafe racer. As per the "inspirasi" blog.
Things i don't like about it....
Things i don't like about it....
- The seat gets wet when it rains and soaks through the seams.
- When its wet, the water seeps into the fuel tank.
- The headlight relay gets too hot and the lights fail after 10 mins of night riding.
- The bright red trellis frame is too much (Dad was especially sure of this when he saw it)
- Parts are hard to find.
- The controls are super poor quality.
- Standard from factory, the rear brake does not work.
- The front brakes are hopeless.
- The fairings looks suss.
- The rear suspension is too soft, so the exhaust hits the wheel, with a stiffer spring, its too high for me.
- The gearing is too low, but easily fixed.
- The Sachs/Megelli 250 pulls well, good torque and has only a handful of km's on the clock.
- The close ratio gearbox is sensational.
- Slight modif, and then engine will be toughs
- its already wired for 552 flasher units and suits LED fittings.
- Front forks are beefy and solid, with 5 bolt clamps.
- Standard underseat stainless exhaust is easily tunable with a serviceable muffler.
- Swingarm takes a massively wide rear tyre.
- Riding position is fantastic, and the bike is super balanced.
- Rear frame section is separate, so i can bolt it off and weld.
